Professionally, I focus on creating social benefit startups. In my Saturday morning emails I share what I’m learning and thinking. Topics range from better living and parenting to business and philosophy.
More than Profit. I was on the More than Profit podcast talking about Purpose Built and the venture studio model. I hope you enjoy listening to it. Thanks to Bryce and the Access Ventures team for hosting me.
The Formula Book. Are innovation and creativity only for the young? Einstein once said, "A person who has not made his great contribution to science before the age of 30 will never do so." But then he published his most cited paper in his 50s. The book The Formula covers the science of success. I recommend it! The author’s research shows that often it is younger people who do breakthrough work. Younger people also tend to do more work! So, they are getting more shots on goal. Other research suggests that many of the great creators are the ones that do more work. They write more songs, poems or stories. They paint more pictures. Doing work of quality over and over gives you more chances for your work to catch on. Keep doing your work. You can have a breakthrough at any time.
Weakness. I have questions about weakness. Can you name your most damaging weaknesses? What are you doing to correct it? Should you focus on your weakness or build on your strengths? Alternatively should you reframe your weakness as a strength? How do you identify your weakness aside from feedback from others?
Until next week,
Miles
