Happy Saturday! Here is your weekly dose of the world of Miles’ curiosity, learning, techno-optimism, business thoughts, and ways to be a better human.
Forward Obsessed. I went on a podcast! If you’re curious to hear more about my backstory or some of my advice for founders, please check it out. Plus, I talk about our venture studio Purpose Built.

Curious Learning. We had our “annual” board retreat for the tech nonprofit Curious Learning. As a board member, I’m certainly passionate about the mission of giving every child the chance to learn to read. Reading transforms lives. With a growing body of evidence (including a World Bank study) that smart-phone-based software can teach children to read, I am more excited than ever to continue to help the organization grow. With 1mil+ learners reached to date and the number of learners doubling every year, the opportunity for positive impact is still immense. One way to learn more is to listen to the cofounder on my podcast from last year. If you want to talk about it more, please let me know.
Learning as Leadership. I recently listened to the book Ego Free Leadership written by the folks at Learning as Leadership. Years ago my father asked me to join him at a Learning as Leadership workshop. It took me a while to warm up to it, but I learned a lot in the rest of the workshop. The book does a good job of introducing their work in the form of a story of one CEOs transformation.
Until next week,
Miles
P.S. While divorce scares me, I enjoyed interviewing Erin Levine of Hello Divorce on the Startups for Good podcast. Congratulations to her and the team for announcing their seed round!
