Professionally, I focus on creating social benefit startups. In my Saturday morning emails I share what I’m learning and thinking. Topics range from better living and parenting to business and philosophy.
Learning Charisma. Do you think charisma is innate? I recommend reading The Charisma Myth. Charisma is a learned skill. Two takeaways to get you interested:
The key ingredients to charisma are: Warmth (I like you) Power ( I can help you) Presence (being here now).
Internal state is broadcast via body language, so changing your beliefs has an impact on how people react to you. For example, if you feel comfortable and loving inside, others are more likely to perceive you as warm.
Learning Perfect Pitch. Mozart demonstrated perfect pitch at age 7. Some say that proves he was born a genius, but remember that he did have lots of musical training early. Although you do have an advantage being young or speaking a tonal language, perfect pitch is a learned skill. Granted, not everyone will learn the skill as easily as others and there may be some that have physical challenges to hearing well.
Learning Preferences. I mentioned before but worth repeating. You can also change your preferences. For example, I used to think chocolate was gross and to hate running. Allow yourself to evolve your tastes.
Until next time,
Miles
I enjoy your sharing.
